Festival Behavior & Dress Code Guidelines

Festivals are school functions with students from schools all over the county and state.

Attendees represent our troupe and our school.

Attending festivals is a privilege and a responsibility. Attendees are there to perform, support each others, learn, and have a fun, appropriate time.

Expected behaviors:

  • Entering and leaving performance spaces quietly.  This includes volume level outside as well.

  • Adhering to the “no applause/noise” rule during Thespy performances – this is so the judges can do their critiques!

  • Supporting each troupe member by attending their performances if you are able.

  • Checking in with Mrs. Walburn at required times.

  • Using the buddy system.

  • Staying on festivals campus/ designated areas at all times.

For all festivals:

  • Students will follow school dress code rules.

  • Avoid too much jewelry, tight fitting/revealing clothes, uncomfortable shoes, etc.

  • Undergarments should not be visible at any time.

  • You should be comfortable, yet respectable looking.

For Thespys:

  • ALL black clothing suitable for an audition.

  • Clothing should be appropriate for the situation so as not to limit movement or affect performance.

  • Neutral, non-distracting footware which includes sneakers, dress shoes, or character shoes

  • No costumes, theatrical makeup, or props are allowed.

For States:

  • During the day, wear comfortable clothing you can move around in. Wear sneakers or super comfortable walking shoes.

  • For evening mainstage shows, wear semi-formal attire (slacks, skirts, dresses, button up shirt, dress shirt, etc.) Absolutely NO RIPPED JEANS or FLIP FLOPS.
